Gods and Goddesses of Greek mythology

There are many dramas in Greek mythology, and they have not only attracted so many people from around the world, but also influenced them.

No one would deny that Greek culture is the origin of European culture.

In myths, the world began with the birth of Gaia, who is the goddess of the Earth, and gave birth to many gods and goddesses.

One of her children, Uranus the god of the sky, became her husband and they ruled the world.

She continued to deliver many divinities, but Uranus expelled their children who were judged as monsters by him.

Gaia got angry with Uranus, and ordered her son, Cronus, the god of time (the word “clock” is from his name), to get revenge on his father.

Cronus took the throne and married his sister Rhea, the goddess of plants.

They became the parents of many gods and goddesses including Zeus the god almighty, who is in the highest position on Mount Olympus, the kingdom of gods.

Ancient people in Greece believed that there were high-ranked gods and goddesses on Olympus, and they held a series of athletic competitions to celebrate the honor of Zeus once every four years.

It is said that was the origin of the Olympic Games, which have continued ever since.

The divinities of Greek myth have been concerned with the planets and stars of the Solar System, because the Greek myths were handed down in Rome as Roman mythology.

The sun is the symbol of Apollon, the moon is his sister Artemis, and Mercury is the name of the Roman god from Greek myth, Hermes.

Venus is the goddess of beauty in Roman mythology, the original name is Aphrodite in Greece.
Her lover Mars, the god of war in Rome, is derived from Ares in Greece.

Jupiter is the same god as Zeus, Saturn is named after his father Saturnus, same as Cronus.

Uranus gets its name literally from Uranus, Pluto is named after the god of death, and Neptune is the Roman version of Poseidon, the god of the sea in Greek myth. Pluto and Poseidon are both Zeus’s brothers.

These stars and planets are related to the twelve zodiac signs of western astrology, which have strongly influenced history.
