Highly Recommended YouTube Channel for English Learning

I like watching YouTube videos, because it is convenient to kill my time and efficient for English learning.

So I would like to introduce my favorite channels in English.

Firstly, I pick Drew Binsky’s channel, it is so popular with over 3.3 million subscribers.

Drew is a 28-year-old YouTuber, and has been trying to travel to every country in the world since 2012.

He says he dreamed of visiting every country when he had gotten a globe on his 10th birthday.

And he went to South Korea as an English teacher after university.

He has visited 191 countries up to now, and posts short videos on his channel almost every single day.

They introduce us various things about heritage sites, history, food, culture, interviews with local residents, or how to travel on a low budget.

I’m impressed with his point of view, because he is always optimistic and not emotional, even though he reports terrible situations like riots, war, discrimination and poverty.

His narration is clear and understandable for non-native English speakers, and his videos have English subtitles.

That’s why I can search words for meanings when I don’t understand them.

Secondly I recommend “Bilingual Baby”.

It’s made by an American woman who married a Japanese guy, and they have two cute kids.

She posts videos of their daily life, making dishes, shopping, conversation between family members.

Her videos have subtitles in both Japanese and English, and she recommends her videos for English learners.

She says it’s efficient to watch the videos many times.

Firstly we watch it with Japanese subtitles, and to try shadowing with English subtitles again and again for a second time, so we understand it completely without subtitles.

I also watch many videos on YouTube in both Japanese and English instead of TV programs, because I lost my habit of watching TV while I stayed abroad.

we watch and read through media only in Japanese.

It is said that we can’t understand what happens in the world if we watch and read through media only in Japanese.

That’s why I learn English at FORWARD and on YouTube.
